5th Annual Frisco Ski Orienteering Event
Frisco Nordic Center
March 4, 2000
What a beautiful cloudless day we had. The only complaints I had were about what wax to use. Lots of shortcuts between the groomed trails. Elis learned that his new map holder wasn't waterproof so after a few spills the ink on the map started to fade. That is one problem of making maps on an ink jet printer. We did have zip lock bags with strings attached, which worked reasonably well. Maps were pre-printed with codes on the map.
Our meet crew included all the World Masters medal winners from the United States. Probably the oldest group ever to run a meet also. Mil took care of start and finish timing while George Bramhall handled registration. Margareta and Betty assisted with instruction. Beatrice and Margareta helped pick up controls. Thanks to all.
Sharon designed the courses and then left for Bulgaria and Siberia to race in the World Masters Ski-O Championships and the World Ski-O Championships.
Many thanks to the staff at the Frisco Nordic Center for making this wonderful facility available to us for the fifth year in a row. It is a pity that more club members are not skiers. The center gives us a great deal on ski passes making overall cost less than a daily pass.
