Meet Director and Course Setter: Bob Ellis

The day dawned cool and sunny, it got cloudy and sunny during the starts,had an occasional spit of snow, and ended cool and sunny. Competitors found the courses challenging. I heard more than once that they found the experience of orienteering in forest with very few trails quite different than the route finding on the maps down near Denver. The Kelly Dahl map is unique in one feature, as indicated by the posted map corrections. This is that many of the trails on the map are no longer visible in the woods. I would say that that is the opposite of most maps, where there are usually many new trails made by dirt bikes or other heavy uses.

Thanks to the members who responded to my e-request for assistance, we were comfortably staffed.
