Rocky Mountain Orienteering Club

General Information: Christoph Zurcher and Neal Barlow are planning an informal training event on the weekend of July 12 & 13. The training courses will take place in the Happy Jack area near Laramie, Wyoming.

These courses are planned as advanced training sessions, but all are welcome.

This will be a bare-bones event. We'll be using flagging tape to mark controls (rather than the standard flags). You'll have to supply your own water and time yourself.
Pre-Registration: Pre-registration is required for this meet. Use the form at the bottom of this page. The pre-registration deadline is Thursday, 7/10/2008, at 3:59 pm MDT.
Event Fees: $2 per map or $5 for the whole weekend.

- Saturday Morning -- Bisbee Hill: From Laramie, take I-80 east towards Cheyenne. Exit at the top of the hill at Exit 323 (Visitors Center). Turn left, cross over the interstate, and turn left onto Wyoming 210, Happy Jack Road. Follow WY 210 7.6 miles to Forest Service Road 701. Turn left onto 701; follow 701 north until you're about a mile past the intersection with 701D.
- Saturday Afternoon -- Pelican Bay: From Laramie, take I-80 east towards Cheyenne. Exit at the top of the hill at Exit 323 (Visitors Center). Turn left, cross over the interstate, and turn left onto Wyoming 210, Happy Jack Road. Continue east on WY 210 for about 8.2 miles to Forest Service road 707A on the right. Turn onto 707A, follow for 0.3 miles to the fork with 707AA. Turn left onto 707AA and park by the "Lucky Dog" car (blue Subaru).
- Sunday Morning -- First With the Most: From Laramie, take I-80 east towards Cheyenne. Exit at the top of the hill at Exit 323 (Visitors Center). Turn left, cross over the interstate, and turn left onto Wyoming 210, Happy Jack Road. Continue east on WY 210 for about 8.2 miles to Forest Service road 707A on the right. Turn onto 707A. Follow 707A past the turn-off for 707AA, and then bear right after the fence crossing. Park by the "Lucky Dog" car (blue Subaru).
- Sunday Afternoon -- Pitcher Hill: From Laramie, take I-80 east towards Cheyenne. Exit at the top of the hill at Exit 323 (Visitors Center). Turn left, cross over the interstate, and turn left onto Wyoming 210, Happy Jack Road. Follow WY 210 for 7.6 miles to Forest Service Road 701. Turn left onto 701; follow 701 north for 4.0 miles to the intersection with 712. Turn right onto 712 and go straight on 712 for 2.8 miles. At about this point, the road goes up a slight but sharp incline and passes through a prominent line of ponderosa pines. Parking for the Start/Finish is right beyond that, where the road levels out again -- look for the "Lucky Dog" car (blue Subaru).
