  • Volunteers: Please add your name to the Volunteer Sign-up List if you can help at the meet. If you volunteer, you can still run a course. The following roles need to be filled: Setup, Registration, Beginner Instruction, Starts, E-Punch Timing, and Control Pick-Up.

  • Courses: This meet will offer a long-distance "goat" course for intermediate & advanced orienteers, as well as three standard orienteering courses -- White and Yellow (for beginners), and Brown (short distance / advanced navigation).

You can find an explanation of the orienteering course color scheme at our FAQs page.

The Beginner courses (White and Yellow) will be suitable for Beginners of all ages -- kids, adults, families, etc.

    Course Details (updated 6/20/2018):

    Technical
    Difficulty
Course Length Length (km) Climb (m) # of
    Controls
    Beginner White Very Short 1.9 40 6
    Yellow Short 2.4 70 8
    Advanced Brown Short 2.8 100 8
    Goat Loop 1 Medium 4.1 145 9
    Goat Loop 2 Medium 3.4 90 7
    Goat Loop 3 Medium 4.7 165 9

    Course Notes:

    • The White course is on trails and forest roads in a loop from the Start / Finish.

    • The Yellow course stays near trails, forest roads and the powerline, but has controls both on and just off these linear features.

    • The Brown course has technical navigation in nice forest.

    • The Goat course will be comprised of three loops which must be completed in order. You are allowed to skip one control of your choice on each loop. Complete one, two, or all three loops for an official finisher memento. Three-hour time limit.

The maps for the second and third loops will be at the last control (same last control for all three loops). If you want to continue on to the next loop, simply take a map for the next loop (in order) and begin the next loop starting from there. (It will be shown as the start, as well as the last control, for the second and third loops.) Only come to the Finish if you're finishing, or if you're retiring from the course.

Solid intermediate orienteers should be able to navigate the Goat course using around-routes on trails, the powerline, and clearings, and then attacking in. Expert orienteers will generally go straight and experience more technical navigation, but also with some route choice.

Remember that you can skip one control of your choice on each Goat loop (but all other controls must still be taken in order). Since the last control will have the maps for the next loop, don't skip that control unless you're finishing.

  • Beginner Instruction: Basic Beginner Instruction will take place at 9:40 am in the vicinity of the Registration table. When you check in, let a volunteer know that you would like Beginner Instruction.

    - Our standard meet fees will apply for White, Yellow & Brown participants (see table below).
