  • General Information: Today's events will consist of:

    • a fun Score-O course for all ability levels, at City Park in Denver;
    • a group lunch at the Mercury Cafe in Denver; and
    • the RMOC annual meeting.

The Score-O course is open to active RMOC members only, due to City Park's 25-person limit.

If you plan to attend any or all of the activities, you must pre-register using the form below. The pre-registration deadline is 9:00 pm on Friday, October 28th.

  • Schedule:

    8:50 am Pre-race rules & announcements.
    8:55 am Maps distributed.
9:00 am Mass Start for Score-O course. 45-minute time limit.
10:00 am Score-O course closes and timing ends.
11:00 am Arrive at Mercury Cafe, order, and eat lunch.
12:00 pm - 2:00 pm RMOC Annual Meeting.

  • Event Fees: This event will be FREE, open only to active RMOC members with a 2016 waiver on file. [Check Membership & Waiver Status]

  • Score-O Course: In a Score-O format, the goal is to find as many controls as possible, in any order, within the time limit. Points are deducted from your score if you exceed the time limit. For today's course, there will be 52 controls and the time limit will be 45 minutes.

    Notes from the Course Setter:

The "Lamppost-O" will be an informal Score-O in which participants will locate and copy down the permanent, numerical codes on selected lampposts and other City property. There will be not be a flag or streamers at any of the controls locations, but each feature will be described explicitly where necessary (e.g. "grey lamppost 9m W of path junction", "grey 1.5m electrical box 6m bearing 275° from fire hydrant", etc.).

We'll use a modified map from the City website, zoomed to about 1:500, and oriented to true north. The declination is a little over 8° east in Denver, but precision navigation won't be an issue.

In order to receive credit for the control locations you've visited, the codes must be correct, clearly written, and in the correct place on the form on the back of your map.

City of Denver park regulations restrict us to 25 or fewer participants. We'll therefore have only 25 maps (free), one for each participant, whether in a group or not. It is therefore critical that each individual participant be a current member with a waiver on file AND pre-register. Please do not pre-register if you are not reasonably certain that you'll be able to attend and participate. We will not be collecting fees, handling memberships, or providing waivers at this meet.

The assembly area, start, and finish will be the north side of the restroom building just off the northwest corner of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Participants should arrive by 8:30 am or earlier for the best parking. The Denver Museum of Nature and Science and Zoo both open at 9:00 am, and events including "Boo at the Zoo" are scheduled for the 29th. Keep in mind that traffic on Colorado Boulevard is always bad.

An answer key will be available at the Finish point.
