Volunteers: Please contact RMOC President Doug Berling if you can volunteer at this meet: email. If you volunteer, you can still run a course. The following roles need to be filled:
Entrance Fee / Canyon Access: You should not have to pay an entrance fee if you tell the Eleven-Mile State Park attendant that you're going to Camp Alexander. This free access is for Camp Alexander only and not a free pass to enter the valley to explore. When you depart Camp Alexander, you must leave the canyon or pay the entrance fee, or State Park fines may be enforced.
From Colorado Springs, take Highway 24 west to the town of Lake George. Entering the town of Lake George, take the first left onto County Road 96. (Look for Starky's General Store and turn south just before the store. If you cross the river, you've gone too far.) Follow County Road 96 for about one mile to the 11-Mile Canyon entrance. Turn right into 11-Mile Canyon and proceed to the ranger station. Tell the gate attendant that you're heading to Camp Alexander, and the park entry fee should be waived. Follow 11-Mile Canyon for about two miles past Riverside Campground (watch for oncoming traffic!). Look for the camp entrance on the left.
Note: The camp's postal address won't work with Google Maps or GPS units as it is not a true physical address. You can use the town of Lake George as a reference point and then follow the directions above.
