Jim Plant Memorial Ski-O & Snowshoe-O at Frisco Peninsula
Saturday, January 23rd, 2010 -- Frisco
This meet featured 20 controls. People could decide while they were competing whether they would be in the "at least 8 controls" class, the "at least 12 controls" class, or the "at least 16 controls" class. Of course, there were also those who were obsessed about getting all 20 controls. Participants used either snowshoes or skis.
The day started nicely and ended with fresh wind-driven snow.
Thanks to Sharon Crawford and Doug Berling for setting the courses. Thanks to Libby Ellis for the registration efforts, and to Bob Ellis for running the E-Punch equipment.
Sharon, Doug and Bob collected controls. Since Bob was too brain-dead to find one of the controls with the trails obliterated by fresh snow, Sharon and Doug mounted a night-O expedition to collect it. Doug did the hard job of keeping the truck warm, while Sharon collected the errant control on skis by headlamp.
