Night-O & Standard Orienteering Meet (July 14-15) at Frisco Peninsula
Saturday, July 14th, 2012 -- Frisco
After a varied weather day on Saturday (sun, pouring rain, hail, light rain, sun, light rain), the skies cleared for the Night-O! Without reflective controls a few orienteers had some difficulty at a reentrant, and everyone was careful not to get lost.
Sunday's weather went smoothly with only a hint of rain, though we could see the heavy downpour at Dillon / Silverthorne. A missing control on the Orange and Brown courses turned out to be an OCAD printing bug. I had moved #71 from a boulder to a depression, yet the printed "all controls" map did not show the moved control. Those of you who know OCAD should be reminded that if you move a control, press reset before printing the map. Graham Baird rode his bike with the replacement control, but it was too late for folks who couldn't find #71. We'll give you credit for your time if you were one of those unfortunates who missed it.
It's not up to me, but if you think we should return to Frisco in its current condition let us know. I'm inclined to wait a few years and let nature take its course. Most who attended thought it was worth it to see the changes.
August will be a dull orienteering month until Laramie. If you haven't been there yet, register soon. Great maps, great terrain, and a nice place to get away.
