Ski-O at Snow Mountain Ranch

I had set out most of the controls the day before and just had to place out the last two on the morning of the meet. While I was out to do that, Sharon and Maiya had shown up and had the registration table organized. The Barneløpet racers were all beginning to arrive to get ready for either the 1 km, 2.5 km or 5 km races. The choices for Ski-O were Short, Medium, and Long.
Sharon and Maiya ran the registration table and managed to recruit quite a few from the Barneløpet crowd (kids up to age 16). Some of them did the Barneløpet AND the Ski-O and a few just did the Ski-O. All of them seemed to have a good time, even if they missed a couple of controls. Some are looking forward to the foot-O events this spring and summer.
A group of Boy Scouts went out on the Medium Ski-O course, maybe getting in over their heads, but I gave them credit for one missed control so that their times would show up in the results. They had also done the longer distance Barneløpet race prior to the Ski-O, so they also got caught in the windier part of the day.
Maiya and Anders both went out for part of the Short course, to see if Anders could remember how to ski.
The weather was cold, clear, and later toward afternoon was quite windy. I guess we just call that the usual weather for Snow Mountain Ranch. There had been two to three inches new snow overnight and conditions were fast, at least for me.
I was thankful that Odd and Sharon were there to help with control pickup, after they had both skied the Long course. Odd got the entire west area and Sharon and I split the remainder across the eastern end of the map.
