Other things to do while in the mountains: SMR trail running festival on Saturday the 13th . Grand County Kids Festival on Saturday 13th from 1 - 6 pm
The terrain at SMR is generally poor in detail but rich in trails and man-made objects. For route choices though the Dark Green willows be sure to check for Beaver activity before diving in. A Beaverdam can be quite deep. Moose and other wildlife are not aggressive at this time of the year but keep alert to not run into an animal. There is horse traffic on some trails during day time(you know when you're on one) and if you meet horses please yield and try not to scare them.
The Red course is traversing (have controls) in some steeper terrain so be careful in this area.
