  Attention RMOC Members!

  Looking to get some technical training miles in or help grow our local orienteering community? Join us for a casual practice session at Wonderland Lake. This is a great opportunity to sharpen your navigation, enjoy the spring weather, and give back to the sport by mentoring those new to the map.

  This event is organized by Alex Pichler with support from Mariama Dryák-Vallies.

  The Details

  •  What: A casual practice event featuring two course options (5k or 10k).

  •  For Established Orienteers: Use this as a high-speed sprint workout or a "back-to-basics" technical refresh.

  •  For Newcomers: A casual introduction to the sport with guidance available.

  •  When: Saturday, March 14th | Starts: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

  •  Where: Wonderland Lake Park (Meet near the playground)

  RSVP to attend on the day by signing up here. This will enable us to get an accurate count on how many snacks to get! 

  Share Your Skills: The Mentorship Ask

  We are expecting several beginners who are excited to try orienteering for the first time! We are looking for experienced RMOC members to help lower the barrier to entry in two ways:

  •  The "Base Camp" Instructor: Stay at the start/finish area to explain map symbols, scale, and north lines to small groups before they head out.

  •  The Trail Shadow: Walk or light-jog a portion of a course with a beginner team to offer real-time tips on handrails, catching features, and "thumbing" the map.
